College Prep Composition: 1 semester .5 units. Prerequisite: English I, II, III. This course covers various issues important to preparation for college-level writing and English classes. Written composition structure, development, voice, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary will be stressed. Home work is minimal reading but regular writing practice. Projects, reports, and papers: eight full-length essays and one term paper. Tests are short quizzes, mid-term, and final in-class essay. Format is lecture, discussion, in-class and out-of-class practice, peer group editing.

English II: 1 year 1 unit. Prerequisite: Successful completion of at least one semester of English I. If first semester of English II is failed, continuation to second semester English II is dependent on teachers recommendation. This course will focus on process writing, the elements of literature, public speaking, and the use of primary sources in a report. Homework is both reading and writing assignments will be give as homework. Projects, reports, papers: compositions, book reports, unit-related as assigned. Assessments will be given at the end of each unit when the class shows general readiness. Format is some lecture, large and small group work, and discussion.
