This class is meant as a physical science college preparatory course.Students will develop quantitative problem-solving skills and abstract reasoning abilities for use in higher level Chemistry classes. |
Chemistry II consists of two different classes: Organic Chemistry and Qualitative Chemistry. Students will begin with Organic Chemistry where they will learn different ways to identify, name, and study organic chemicals. After Organic Chemistry has been completed, students move onto Qualitative Chemistry where they will study techniques of "wet chemical analysis." This means students will learn how to separate and identify the presence of various chemicals by looking at their unique properties.
This class focuses on basic scientific principles and laws such as motion, waves, electricity, magnetism, weather, and properties of the solar system. General Science is a slow paced class that is meant to review topics critical for advancement into higher-level science classes that students may have forgotten.
