Responsible Parenting is a semester long and open to juniors and seniors. This course is designed to expose students to parenting practices that will foster the physical, intellectual, and social growth of children. Strong parenting skills are critical in today’s world and the effect of these skills impact home, employment, and community situations. There will be speakers, “special activities” and the students will be exposed to many areas of interest through class discussions.
The students do individual and group projects, research papers, and reports. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a parenting simulation activity utilizing the Baby-Think-It-Over computerized dolls, also students who meet the specified heath guidelines and obtain parental permission may also be experience the Empathy Belly simulation.
